@Music

No journey would be complete without the harmonious notes of music — from Mozart to John Williams to Hans Z to M.S.Viswanathan / Ilayaraja / R.D.Burman / A.R.Rehman/ …

  • Of late, I have collected the music from Octopath(Yasunori Nishiki), Zelda(Koji Kondo), Vivaldi(Mark Richter/Nigel Kennedy) and Dune(Hans Zimmer).
  • The Dune Sketchbook/Song of the sisters (has a cacophony of vibrant sounds) is Hans Zimmer’s rough cut “extended cues feature huge swathes of arpeggiated synths, vocal chants and rumbling bagpipes, dramatic, loud and disorientating (sometimes all within the same cue)” You need an interesting speaker to bring out the texture !

@READ

  • Beyond the hustle in the corporate world, my bookshelf is a treasure trove of stories waiting to be discovered ! Currently engrossed in a stack of Ellery Queen, Lawrence Sanders, and Colin Forbes, I’m on a mission to conquer the literary realms of mystery, espionage, and beyond !
  • Checkout my blogs on books by Zakaria, Obama (+ here) & Gary Kasparov, the thrilling explorations of Euro Noir and Sci-fi (here, here, & here).
  • If you’re a fan of espionage, don’t miss my reading list Spies-Lies-and-Algorithms and deep dives into Scandinavian Noir.
  • And for the sci-fi aficionados, feast your eyes on curated lists and reading orders featuring the Top 7 Sci-Fi authors [here], Isaac Asimov [here] & Robot’s Rules[here]

Have a lot more books to blog about !

@HOBBIES

Let me start with Time Travel — haven’t yet enrolled in the Udacity Time Travel nano degree. In my TTD this year !

ChatGPT says I should say “Life outside of work is a canvas filled with vibrant hues, and my hobbies paint a rich tapestry of interests” — well I said it ! Who are we, mere mortals, to quibble with our new computer overlords …

Like all of us, I dabble into many hobbies — strategic studies on Chess (I have a good collection of chess books — not rare but not widely available either) and Go, a virtual journey with Zelda/Octopath/The World Ends With You on Switch, solving puzzles with Professor Layton on our son’s 3DS-XL.

And, then there’s my LEGO haven, boasting almost all the large sets from Star Wars, Cars, and Technic. The plan? To build, create, and share the tales behind each set through captivating story videos.

We have been participating in the First Lego League World Competition Festivals — Robotic Judge is my favorite role/Usha enjoys guiding the teams during the festival. A few blogs:

  • 2016 FLL World Festival with suggestions to teams [here]
  • 2014 FLL World Festival [here}

And, Festivals ! Our Navratri Golu blog is a good visual treat [here], if I may say so !

And, Chocolates at Google SOC !
